With Langley Speedway remaining dark for the 2016 season, many local racers were very excited to see the announcement of its re-opening in 2017.  Sammy Gaita, Super Street driver from Hampton, is anxious to get back at the track.  Last year, Gaita won the Super Street division at East Carolina Speedway after having some bad luck in 2015 defending his Langley Speedway championship.  Running AMSOIL Strong, Gaita expects to be a contender every time he hits the track and is looking for some redemption.

Matt Carter, modified driver from Newport News, is planning on running a full schedule as well.  Carter ran the final races in 2015 and showed what AMSOIL was able to do for him, running in the top 3 in the last two races.  In 2016, Carter raced at a special event modified race at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC scoring a 3rd place finish and charging for 2nd at the finish line.

With a third child on the way, Tommy Gildea still plans on racing in the Ucar divison as well in his AMSOIL #28.  Gildea immediately went to work preparing his car in Gloucester when the Langley Speedway announcement was made.  Gildea made some great strides in 2015 and had some hard racing for some top 5 finishes.  Working out a few kinks with the car, he expects to improve on this in one of the most competitive divisions at the track.

Gaita's first race will be Opening Night at Langley Speedway on April 1, while Carter will run the following Saturday night, April 8.  Come out and cheer on some of our AMSOIL racers!
